So how do I make a classic yet simple iced tea from scratch?

Follow these simple steps to make your iced tea at home. 

  • You can use loose tea leaves or tea bags, or tea concentrates.  
  • Always use fresh, filtered water.
  • Heat half the water near boiling temperature. (We would suggest simmering water as ideal.)
  • Pour the hot water over the tea leaves/bag.
  • Cover the lid and steep it for 10 minutes.
  • If you like your iced tea sweet, add the sweetener of your choice and mix it well.
  • Add the other half of the cold water to the drink and refrigerate until chilled.
  • Put the tea and ice in a cocktail shaker (or any large jar with a tight lid) and shake it well.
  • Serve it with lemons and mint, and enjoy this refreshing drink.
